Zidou
Zidou game is a word guessing game inspired by the popular game Wordle. It is similar in concept but incorporates Cantonese spelling and tones as part of the gameplay. The game was designed by Josh Wardle, and Samuel Lo created a Cangjie version called "JNDLE Zidao," which later inspired A Zezhen's Cantonese puzzle.
In the Zidou game, the objective is to guess a five-letter word or phrase using Cantonese letters (excluding numbers marked with tones). Cantonese is a variety of Chinese spoken primarily in Guangdong province and Hong Kong.
The game provides feedback on each guess by changing the color of the boxes. There are three possible colors used for feedback:
- Green: The letter in the guess is correct, and its position is also correct.
- Yellow: The letter in the guess is correct, but its position is wrong.
- Red: The letter in the guess is not present in the answer.
The player has up to six attempts to guess the correct word or phrase. The challenge lies in deducing the correct spelling and position of the letters based on the feedback provided by the game.
Zidou game adds an additional layer of complexity by incorporating Cantonese spelling and tones, making it a unique and challenging word-guessing game for players familiar with Cantonese.
